Located in Mayfair, The Six has been created by Marcos Verissimo.

The Six has all the hallmarks of a private members’ club, but without the pretension. Opened in 2025 and set in the heart of Mayfair, it is deliberately discreet – the sign is little more than a small gold plaque, with nothing outside to suggest you are about to step into a spa and salon. There are no sweeping windows revealing rows of stylists, no obvious name, and no photographs. Just a black door, a white façade, and that quiet hint of gold – the sort of detail you feel quietly pleased to have discovered.

The Six occupies a Grade II listed building on Queen Street – the same street as Blank Street Coffee, Murano, and Soho House’s Little House Mayfair – and sits just around the corner from the Embassy of Saudi Arabia. It is already drawing in a well-heeled Mayfair clientele, many of whom have made it their salon of choice.

Founder Marcos Verissimo, originally from Brazil, honed his craft across the globe. What began with cutting the hair of friends and family soon led to working with well-known faces and in the fashion industry. Where many stylists might place their own name above the door, Marcos instead drew inspiration from the building itself – a six-storey space that lends the salon its identity.

At its core, The Six is about hair, but it also offers face, hand and body treatments. From balayage and blow-dries to highlights and hair extensions, the offering is comprehensive, with facials and massages alongside. We booked a wash, cut and blow-dry, with prices starting from £180.

Designed by Argent, the interiors are clean and contemporary, with white walls, brass finishes, soft lighting and striking artwork. Each floor is dedicated to a different experience, from the barber to a private VIP room, even extending to a tucked-away terrace. Every detail feels carefully considered, prioritising real-life experience over Instagram gloss. So much so that even the photogenic basin room, where your hair is washed, is entirely phone-free.

    The Six London

I am always slightly nervous around a new hairdresser, and have come to realise that the most useful reference images to bring are photographs of my own best haircuts – soft layers with a full fringe. Despite my best efforts, I rarely feel that stylists fully understand the brief, but this time it is different.

I have long envied those who can chat effortlessly with their stylist, as if with an old friend. With Marcos, it comes naturally. We talk about our hair journeys. He speaks about his upbringing in Brazil, his move to London, and his work at the Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Awards with an ease that puts you at ease.

“I listen first,” he explains. “I want to understand how someone lives, how they style their hair, what they’ve loved and disliked in the past. Great hair isn’t just about trend or technique – it’s about how it makes someone feel every day.”

As he works – a snip here, a snip there – the cut begins to take shape. The team’s passion is evident; stylists are referred to as “artists”, and conversations drift from technique to tools, including Japanese scissors that cost hundreds of pounds. Guests are offered food and drink, and a clever pull-out table provides space for a magazine, a plate, or a laptop.

By the end, Marcos seems to have understood instinctively what I am after, and gently guides me towards something even better. He cuts both wet and dry, softening my previously blunt fringe, and somehow preserving its fullness. The result: a cut that makes me feel like a more polished version of myself.

    The Six: quietly exceptional.
