Just when you thought the Dubai Mall couldn’t get any bigger. The world’s largest shopping mall has expanded with a new department called The District. This area has opened just in time for Ramadan, and here’s what you can expect.
Located in between the Ice Rink and Level Shoes, The District brings a range of offerings to the mall. This space will feature 65 new shops and restaurants, some of which are already open, promising a delicious Ramadan.
Drop
A beloved and already established coffee joint in the UAE, Drop is expanding its presence with a new opening at Dubai Mall’s The District. Indulge in their selection of hot beverages this Ramadan from their latest spot in the city.
Home Bakery Kitchen
Homegrown favourite, Home Bakery Kitchen, was bound to come to The District in Dubai Mall. This venue, promising the viral crookie, is guaranteed to become a favourite here too.
Joud Coffee
If you’re looking for a cafe that practices sustainability and sources the finest of coffee beans, Joud Coffee is where it’s at. Roasted in small batches, this spot serves a good old cup of Joe along with delicious bites — now in Dubai Mall’s The District.
Klay by Karak House
Homegrown Emirati concept cafe Karan House is making its way to Dubai Mall’s The District with Klay by Karak House. Blending tradition with modernity, this spot serves the ever-favourite karak along with a selection of Arabic dishes.
Mado
Hailing from Turkey, Mado is a favourite spot in the UAE, and it’s finally made its way to Dubai Mall. Offering breakfast classics and desserts to die for, this venue is guaranteed to attract diners coming to The District.
Moonslice
Brainchild of Emirati restauranteur Mahmood Alkhamis, Moonslice has managed to impress diners in Dubai in a very short span of time. Now, it’s making its way to Dubai Mall — marking the brand’s third outpost in the UAE after Dar Wasl and The 77 Valley.
Peet’s Coffee
US-based Peet’s Coffee will be opening up yet another outpost in Dubai Mall, this time in The District. The cafe has been quite popular amongst coffee enthusiasts, and with the new outpost, it’s guaranteed to wow coffee lovers even more.
RX Coffee
RX Coffee pays homage to the pearl diving tradition of the UAE. With decor that blends the beauty of pearls, and artisanal coffee, this spot will be a haven for coffee lovers heading to Dubai Mall.
The Cheesecake Factory
The Cheesecake Factory at Dubai Mall takes up a generous space in front of the Dubai Aquarium, spreading to The Souk, which now also houses The District. Expect a revamped section of this restaurant to debut at The District soon.
Toby’s Estate
Toby’s Estate marks yet another cafe addition to Dubai Mall’s The District. This coffee joint ensures that you enjoy a wide range of hot beverages this Ramadan while exploring this part of the mall.
Trio
After wowing caffeine and matcha enthusiasts in Umm Suqeim, Trio is making its way to Dubai Mall’s The District. Indulge in their variety of hot beverages or try their matcha specialities such as the Matcha Hot Chocolate.
SLRP Ramen by 3Fils
MICHELIN Guide favourite, 3Fils, earlier opened a ramen spot in Abu Dhabi. Now, SLRP is coming to Dubai Mall’s The District, promising bold, spicy flavours of juicy ramen that are sure to wow you. If you haven’t tried it yet, this is your chance.
In true Dubai-style, Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, earlier announced the plans on Instagram. The images show a bright and airy space with silver and white tones, potted plants, a statement atrium and light features. In the post, Mohamed stated: “Exciting news! A brand-new section at Dubai Mall is set to open at the beginning of Ramadan, featuring 65 incredible exclusive brands and food and beverage”.
In 2008, the mall opened with approximately 1,000 shops. It was originally called The Dubai Mall and then – like Facebook – dropped “the”. The venue attracts locals as well as tourists from around the world. In 2023, it received a record 105 million visitors. In 2024, Emaar Properties announced an AED 1.5 million expansion of the mall.
While Dubai Mall is home to a range of shops, restaurants and cafés, it’s also a sight in itself. The area includes top tourist sights: Burj Khalifa, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Mall Chinatown and The Dubai Fountain.
