Now in its 14th year, the dramatic displays shine a light on the city.
The Sharjah Light Festival, now in its 14th year, is back to add some light to your life. The gorgeous, gram-worthy festival will take place from 5 to 23 February and will cast the whole of Sharjah in a brand-new light. It combines light displays, projections, and music with dramatic results.
This year’s festival brings together a lineup of local and international artists to craft 15 spectacular light shows, unfolding over 13 consecutive days at key locations. From the grandeur of Sharjah Mosque and University City Hall to the scenic Al Majaz Waterfront and beyond, these locations are reimagined in dazzling displays of light and colour. The designs, inspired by local culture, stories, and traditions, often incorporate themes of nature and space. Others explore modern art and design, creating displays that are both visually stunning and thought-provoking.
The festival, which spans the entire emirate and extends to the east coast towns of Dibba, Kalba, and Khorfakkan, enriches the travel experience by seamlessly integrating tourism, culture, and creativity while providing meaningful benefits to the local community. Utilising advanced energy-efficient lighting technologies, the festival aims to transform the facades of iconic landmarks. The interplay of light and music will enhance the architecture of these venues, creating dynamic visual narratives that artfully articulate Sharjah’s rich history and heritage.
After filling up on culture, fill up on food and drink at one of the pop-up stalls at the Light Village. Situated in front of the University City Hall building, it will showcase over 50 brands offering everything from burgers and salads to speciality coffees, adding to the festival’s allure and providing visitors with an immersive experience. The food and beverage stalls include burger joints, salad bars and speciality coffee shops, allowing you to dine under the stars. Plus, there are games and an exhibition on light, of course.
Sharjah is often overshadowed by its glitzy neighbours. But that still doesn’t take away its shine as the cultural hub of the UAE. The Sharjah Light Festival’s installation and experiences are open from 4pm to midnight on weekdays, and from 4pm to 1am on weekends.
Prepare for some sparkle.
