The world’s first and only vegetarian Indian MICHELIN-starred fine-dining experience is offering one of the city’s most distinctive tasting menus for AED 375.

As the region navigates uncertainty, this feels like the right moment to turn our attention back to the restaurants that have shaped Dubai’s dining identity. Supporting homegrown concepts has never been more important, and Avatara stands firmly in that conversation. Located in Dubai Hills Estate, the restaurant has built its reputation on a singular idea: that vegetarian cuisine can be every bit as nuanced, ambitious, and memorable as any other fine-dining format. Avatara is currently offering its signature 17-course culinary journey for AED 375 per person until 15 April 2026, presenting a timely reason to revisit one of the city’s most original tables.

Avatara’s legacy is already secure. The restaurant holds one MICHELIN Star and is the world’s first and only vegetarian Indian MICHELIN-starred fine-dining experience. That ethos comes through in the 17-course tasting menu, which begins with playful, precise bites such as Yogurt with butter bonbon and popping sugar, Wasabi Greens with coral cookie and pickled daikon, and Butternut in the form of a chickpea taco sharpened with black lime. Then come dishes that deepen the narrative: Aloe Vera with tom kha gelato and pomelo salad, Truffle with mushroom tart and black garlic aioli, Banana with raw banana varuval and curry leaf sorbet, and Eggplant wrapped with shiso and lifted by yuzu koshu. Each plate appears designed to reveal a familiar ingredient from a fresh angle.

The later courses continue to build that sense of progression. Onion arrives as a caramelised onion dumpling with spiced tomato water, Jackfruit is paired with teardrop peas and spinach and kafir curry, while Morel is teamed with potato dauphinoise and Kashmiri chilli. Dessert moves from Jasmine Rice with pandan, jaggery and sesame ice cream to Condensed Milk with bal mithai and chocolate rosette, before ending on “Mithai”, a closing celebration of Indian sweets. The restaurant also offers curated pairings, while remaining committed to a fully vegetarian experience with vegan and gluten-free options available on request.

Avatara also continues to evolve under Chef Omkar Walve, who was recognised with the MICHELIN Guide Dubai Young Chef Award in 2023. Avatara’s food is anchored by technique, heritage and a real understanding of how Indian flavours can be reinterpreted without losing their soul. Right now, that is exactly the sort of homegrown restaurant worth rallying around.
